Lisa Chan

STEM Q & A SESSION WITH LISA CHAN

Event - July 24, 2020

Lisa Chan is a recent physics graduate of 2020 from The City College of New York. For three years, she was a researcher at The Institute for Ultrafast Spectroscopy and Lasers and the President of the CCNY Physics Club. She was also an instructor at the New York Math Academy. She is a science advocate and my work in science outreach and community development has been nationally recognized by the Society of Physics Students through the SPS Outstanding Chapters Award. She is currently working for 3D Bio Therapeutics, helping to produce medical devices to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, but she is also applying to grad schools to earn my physics PhD. When she is not strictly doing physics, she is also a photographer, model, artist, and skater, with occasional overlaps amongst five things.

STEM Q & A SESSION WITH JENNIE

Event - August 12, 2020

Jennie is a graduate from the University of California, San Diego. She completed her Bachelor of Science in June 2018 and Master of Science in June 2019... yup, she completed two degrees in 4 years. Her major during undergrad was biochemistry and cell biology, and she got her master’s in biology. Her university offered a contiguous program that allowed her to overlap my degrees and accelerate the process! Jennie started working in a research lab the summer after her first year in college, and she fell in love. After a year she found the BS/MS program and decided to pursue scientific research as my career! For 3 years she did research on mouse stem cells and reproductive medicine. She later transitioned to working in the biopharmaceutical industry, and has been navigating this journey for a year now! It was definitely an interesting transition for her. Through this she has learned so many lab techniques such as drug discovery!
